Just posted question on mmoc site, Matt. Got a reply within the hour! It started from horse racing in New York, apple apparently, referred to the prizes, which it seems were quite substantial. Hence big apple presumably! It was our mate Chris who replied!!

My guess would have been it's called the big apple because it's rotten to the core. I'm about 150 miles north and like most of us upstaters hate NYC and its corrupt politicians that run (ruin) the state. BTW I drive a pickup not a van. Sorry for the rant.

It's a big country and I haven't seen that much of it. Detroit was "Motor City" but it's declined terribly, now more known as murder city. I've heard the Henry Ford Museum is really good for auto history buffs. Las Vegas used to have a number of car collections but I think many have been sold off. Sorry not much help?

A photo of your Pick-up and town would be great.

I haven't mastered picture posting yet except for my avatar, but the little blue object in front of the typical American pickup in the company parking lot is mine. I very infrequently drive it to work. Here in the northeast because of the snow 4wd trucks and suvs are the norm and interstate speeds run at 60-75mph. Can't keep up and don't want to pit my 1800 lbs. against their 4500. Ouch!
Seasonal Salutations to all.

Thanks Russ & James for the new look.............NICE! :P
While everyone is thanking Russ for getting James to make the Forum 'crisp and new'
spare a thought for Russ for one moment as Editor!?
Every time he starts thinking about the next magazine he worries about "am I going to get enough
material and photo's etc to make it a good read".... will you all think on that for a moment!!!??

Here you all are in 'self isolation' with nothing to do apart from hiding in the garage away from the missus!!

Well why not help Russ out by sitting down quietly for an hour and do a write up of what you are doing
in relation to your LCV? ( or anything of interest regarding motor's, etc)
you do not have to be a 'reporter' and expert in the written word........ do it now, and,
send in photo's of your ongoing project,
have your "15 minutes of fame" and your feature will be there for ever
for you to keep,
do you realise if every Member were to send in half a page to Russ

He would be the Happiest Welshman!!?? out there in 'LCV land' ( that might well be pushing it too far), ha!ha! :?

TAKE NOTE:
this includes all you guys and girls 'across the globe' no excuses for you, ;)
also LADIES you are not very vocal when it comes to airing your views are you!
about all those endless times you have been unwillingly dragged all around the Country
to an empty rally field, etc,
come on 'let your hair down' and let us know what you really think & feel about that,(keep it clean Ladies)!
you are just as capable of writing something down and sending in photo's
that's all from me,
keep our lovely magazine... or lose it.............. it is all up to you lot
