I picked up my van at the beginning of the month and since then I've been investigating its history a little and working out what needs doing to make it suitable for its intended purpose, which is as my day to day work van.

It's (I think) a '71 Austin 8cwt. My work these days doesn't involve carrying large amounts of kit or doing many miles so hopefully "Monte' will be well up to the task.

I'm in the process of fitting out the load area with some half height boards and a floor mat to protect it, I'll also fit a bulkhead behind the seats. Other jobs are to fit the front disc kit that I've purchased, improve the lighting, inside and out, and generally make it suitable for day to day use in the modern world.

It will be sign written to make it look 'right'.

Now to see if I can post some pics

Yes it’s a shame, I was hoping to document the journey with some pics. Never mind, maybe the mods need to change some settings? The MMOC forum took my pictures without a problem?

You could probably reduce the file size, with some software but it can be hassle. I’ve tried with little success. In fact I’ve put pictures on the mmoc forum before now, (they allow a decent file size) in response to a query, and suggested the inquirer looks there! You could post a link to the forum for people who may like to see your progress.

Safety first, I've fitted a battery cut off switch. I carry a fire extinguisher also, but it can be useful to be able to disconnect the battery without tools.

Next job is to fit a rubber mat to the floor and 1/2 line the sides to protect it from my work gear. I visited the sign writer today and Monte will be sign written very soon (when I say sign writing I mean vinyl graphics).

I've also investigated the poor fit of the doors, it seems that the door seals (draught excluder) is too thick, which apparently isn't uncommon.

Today’s achievements, fitted the door seals from ESM, now the doors look shut when they’re closed. I also fitted new tie bar bushes in an attempt to cure a knock when the ns wheel hits a pothole. As suggested by Philthehill over on the other channel, I fitted poly bushes forward and rubber on the reverse side.
